PC Stick, Most Portable Mobile Computer

One computer unit that I find quite interesting is PC stick. A small USB disk-like device that’s hardly any bigger than 4.5 x 1 inches, which you can tuck away in your trouser pocket without anyone noticing if you even have something in your pocket, but it powerfully runs and accomplishes basic PC tasks like a normal desktop computer.

The interesting part is that it works just fine. Want to check your email or send email? Type in word document or spreadsheet and edit pictures? Watch YouTube videos or play music? Browse the internet or access your favorite apps? PC sticks are adequately equipped to help you get your basic computing tasks done.

The amazing thing is that with it you can turn any TV or monitor to a personal computer (PC) just by plugging in the device into the HDMI port of your TV or monitor. Yes, it only requires your TV or monitor to have an HDMI port. PC Stick comes with Bluetooth and Wifi for a wireless keyboard and mouse connection, and also for internet Wifi connection. It’s equipped with sufficient processor, RAM and storage to help you carry out your normal computing tasks.

How to Use a PC Stick

To use PC Stick, you need to have a TV or monitor with an HDMI port, a keyboard and mouse (for flexibility and longer distance use, you would require a wireless keyboard and mouse), and an internet Wifi to enable you access the internet. PC Stick is also provided with USB ports where you can plug in a webcam or USB drive. There’s a small power supply, so you will need a standard AC outlet to plug it in. If you need to plug in more USB device, you may get a USB hub.

With PC stick there are many possibilities that you can enjoy

You can turn your living room TV irrespective of its size into a PC, and explore several Windows, Linux and Chrome OS applications with your family. You can also convert an idle or a less used TV or monitor into a computer either for office, family (children) or for personal use.

Want to enjoy big PC screen when you travel and on vacation? With PC stick you can turn your hotel room TV or any monitor to a PC. Just remember to go with a portable wireless keyboard and mouse, and since hotels offer Wifi internet, it’s a win for you.

PC Stick makers usually include an HDMI extension cable to provide flexibility in situations where there are not enough room at the back of the TV/monitor where the HDMI port is situated. The provided extension cable is usually useful in situations where TVs and monitors are wall mounted, such as are usually the case in many hotel rooms.

PC stick is also ideal for use to run a news and notification display board at work or business centers using Google slides, PowerPoint, or Sozi. You can plug the device into displays such as kiosks and projectors also.

They are available in Windows 10, Chrome OS and Linux operating systems.

Manufacturers of PC Sticks offer different output capacities for their PC Sticks. They have varying capacities and sizes for the device’s processors, RAM, storage and other specifications, and these you may have to consider carefully before purchasing one. Quad-Core processor seem common in most of the Sticks and it’s sufficiently OK to get your basic computing task done even in a form factor as small as a PC Stick. But Intel’s Core M processor has higher processing capacity and graphics output. So, this is better if you wish to have a more performing device that can get your applications and computing done like your regular desktop or laptop computer.

2GB of memory is sufficient for the PC Stick to deliver in its basic computing task, but a 4GB memory is more suitable for a processor the capacity of Intel Core M.

PC Sticks are not designed for heavy computing such as high graphic designs, big-time gaming, and creative professionals. They are designed for essential computing and HD entertainment, including Netflix. And you can keep up with your emails and your social media accounts with it.

They are affordable, performs impressively for a PC of its size and takes up no space. They will serve well to enhance your productivity.

“Simply throw the PC Stick into your suitcase, backpack, purse or even your pocket when on the go to access your personal documents, run programs and applications, surf the web, edit, stream movies, and more, from anywhere.” – Azulletech
